B.J. BUCKLEY lives in the Bitterroot Valley
of Montana. Her books of poems include Artifacts (Willow Bee Press, Saratoga, Wyoming) and, with co-author Dawn Senior, Moonhorses and The Red Bull
(Prong Horn Press, Greybull, Wyoming). Her work has appeared in Green Mountains Review, Scintilla and the Big Sky Journal,
as well as in the anthologies Leaning
Into the Wind, Woven on the Wind, Crazy Woman Creek and Birds
in the Hand: Fiction and Poetry About Birds. She has been
awarded a Wyoming Literature Fellowship, the
Cumberland Poetry Review's Robert Penn Warren Narrative Poetry
Award, the Poets &Writers Writer’s Exchange Award in Poetry for
Montana and the Joy Harjo Prize from Cut
Throat: A Journal of the Arts.
This poem won the Rita Dove Poetry Prize from
the Center for Women Writers at Salem College, Winston-Salem, North
Carolina.
